Farmer-herder clash claim 2 lives in Kwara village

Two herders have been killed after a clash erupted between local farmers and cattle herders in Kpada village of Edu local government area of Kwara State.

Eyewitnesses say the clash followed alleged destruction of farmlands after cows from a nearby herders’ settlement invaded a farm.

Aggrieved youths were said to have attacked the Fulani settlement in the community where the suspected owners of the cows reside, burning down their homes and killing two people.

Confirming the casualties, the spokesperson of the police in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi said the herders offered to compensate the farmers for the loss but that did not stop the angry youths from attacking the settlement.

He explained that though the matter has been resolved, the incident will be properly investigated by the police.
