9 villagers rescued as police foil bandits attack in Katsina


Katsina Police Command, SP Isah Gambo has confirmed the rescue of nine persons in a foiled attacks by bandits on Kirijam village in Mahuta community, Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

Rural Post learned the development was as a result of the gun duel with the police and bandits after receiving information of the attack.

Gambo who confirmed this in a statement, said the bandits in their numbers, invaded the community shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles.

“On receipt of the report, the DPO of Dandume Division led a team of policemen and blocked their possible exit route at Kadawan Maikomo village, in Sabuwa LGA,”

He said the bandits followed the route and fell into the police ambush, and that the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled the attack.

He therefore pleaded with the public to assist the security agencies with credible information, especially on those supplying criminals with arms and ammunition, informants, and other essential commodities.
