Bandits abduct Niger Commissioner of Information


Niger State Commissioner of Information and strategy, Mr. Mohammed Idris has been kidnapped by gunmen at Baban Tunga Village of Tarfa Local Government Area of the state.

Rural Post learned Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, disclosed this in a telephone interview.

Matane said the gunmen who came on about fifteen motorcycles with sophisticated weapons kidnapped the commissioner at about 11pm during a downpour in the area.

According to him, the kidnappers had yet to make contact with the family members.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident and promised to provide more details later.
