Vigilance group kills 11 villagers in Sokoto Market

Eleven persons have been confirmed killed by a group, popularly known as Yan Sakai in Mammande weekly market in Gwadabawa local government area of Sokoto State.

Rural Post learned the Police PPRO in the state, ASP Abubakar Sanusi confirmed the incidents in a statement issued.

He said the Yan Sakai group which had been outlawed by the state government due to its alleged excesses raided the market

Sanusi said the perpetrators of the heinous act had been identified and apprehended by the police.

Also, many others sustained various degrees of injuries from gunshots and machete cuts by the attackers.

The injured persons were taken to the Orthopaedic hospital, Wamakko and the State Specialist hospital, Sokoto, it was gathered.
