Heavy downpour destroys farmlands in Sokoto communities..NEMA


Almost 1,500 hectares of Farmlands were submerged following a heavy downpour which lasted for several hours in Bodinga Local Government Area in Sokoto.

The assessment team comprising of NEMA and SEMA staff were taking round the affected places by community leaders and other delegated authorities from the areas.

The team discovered that 978 Farmers from Sifawa, Danchadi and Bangi/Dabaga recorded lost of planted crops, rice, maize, sorghum, millet, cowpeas and sugarcane

However, storage facilities were destroyed, also road networks between neighbouring villages were submerged following the torrential rainfall.
